Donald "Don" Eugene Cherry

Donald "Don" Eugene Cherry, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at home on May 10, 2023, in Fort Mill, SC. Born on November 7, 1940, in Altoona, PA, Don's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and resilience. Don is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Mary Jacqueline Cherry ("Jackie"), his three children: Pamela Jo Eckert, Donald Troy Cherry and his wife, Maryfrances, and Michael Shawn Cherry and his wife, Dana. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Robert Cherry and his wife Jennifer; Treven Cherry and his wife Julie, Trey Cherry, Tyler Cherry, William Cherry, and Andrew Cherry; and four great-grandchildren: Anna Cherry, Benjamin Cherry, Jackson Cherry, and Isla Cherry. A proud patriarch, he nurtured and guided his family with wisdom, humor, and an unwavering sense of responsibility. Don was a dedicated family man who cherished the time spent with his loved ones. He was a steadfast source of support and encouragement to his family, and his unconditional love will continue to inspire them in the years to come. Don was a United States Navy veteran and worked for the Eastman Kodak Company for 32 years. He was known for his generosity and constant willingness to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends. His warm smile and loving kindness could light up any room. His presence will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A celebration of Don's life will take place at noon on Tuesday, May 16th to honor his memory and share the countless stories and cherished moments that he left behind. The service will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church located at 7095 Waxhaw Highway, Lancaster, SC. The family is grateful for the love and support they have received during this difficult time and asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association in Don's name. Don's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and his abundant love will continue to guide them in the days and years to come. Rest in peace, dear Don.
