Anna Redding Pitt Charlotte- Mrs. Anna Redding Pitt died at her home at Southminster Retirement Community on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. The daughter of the late William Howard Redding and Mabel Ingram Redding she was born in Long Island, New York on April 5, 1932. She graduated from Saint Mary"s School and Junior College in Raleigh, NC and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1954. She is survived by her husband, William Howard Pitt, Jr. and their four children, Susan Pitt Herring, Mariah Pitt Waltemyer and her husband, Mike, Mary Howard Pitt Lassiter and her husband, Jack, and William Howard Pitt, III. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Patrick Merritt Herring, Susanne Ingram Herring, Stuart Pitt Cochrane, William Howard Pitt, IV, Anna- Hollis Wycliff Pitt, and Ingram Dryman Pitt. She is also survived by one brother, William Howard Redding, Jr. and wife, Camille Grice Redding, of Asheboro, NC. Mrs. Pitt moved to Charlotte in 1957. She served on the Board of the Junior League of Charlotte; was a sustaining President of the Junior League, and past President of the Charlotte Assembly. She was a Board of Trustees member of St. Mary"s School for eight years and served on the Board of Governors of Blowing Rock Country Club for four years. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 27, 2014 at St. John"s Episcopal Church, 1623 Carmel Road, Charlotte with The Reverend Martin McCarthy and The Reverend Josh Bowron officiating. Visitation will be in the parish hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Mary"s School, 900 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh, NC 27603. 7/27/2014 02:00 PM Memorial St. John's Episcopal Church
