Christine Mumford Beaman, 72, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2023. She was born on December 1, 1950, to Harry Gardner Mumford and Lenora Haller Mumford in Greenville, NC. Christine was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, mother, and grandmother. Christine is survived by her daughter, Shaye Beaman Ray (Howard), and grandson, Anderson Malcolm Ray. She is also survived by her sister, Louise Mumford Twilley (Robert), and nieces and nephews: Tammy Hunsucker, Kathryn Hunsucker, Michele Beaman, Leah Twilley, Ryan Twilley, Russell Twilley, Jeffrey Beaman, Shannon Beaman, Brack Massey, Croft Massey, and Clark Massey. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Edward Malcolm Beaman, Jr., and her sister, Anne Mumford Smith. Christine graduated from Ayden High School as her class's valedictorian and later received her MBA from East Carolina University. She had a successful career as a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones where she was passionate about building great relationships with her clients. For many years, Christine was a Queen City Optimist Club member. She especially enjoyed raising money for their scholarship programs. In her spare time, Christine was adventurous and enjoyed traveling and trying out new restaurants. She was also an excellent piano player and loved listening to Carolina Beach music. Her motto in life was to remain positive no matter the circumstances. Christine was a member of Providence Baptist Church, where she served as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher. She was of immense faith, and her life exemplified the fruit of the Spirit - love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). A Celebration of Life service will be held on October 28, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Charlotte. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A Graveside Service will be held on October 29, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ayden Cemetery, Ayden, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made for breast cancer research through the Carolinas Breast Fund at Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute c/o Atrium Health Foundation, 208 East Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203, or via their Web site: http://AtriumHealthFoundation.org. Christine's family wishes to thank all the caregivers and staff of Levine Cancer Center and Atrium Hospital in Charlotte, NC, and Roper St. Frances Hospice and Home Instead in Mount Pleasant, SC, and family and church friends who have supported Christine and her family during and after her illness.
