Tribute & Tallent Funeral and Cremations
Margaret Alma Souza
March 22nd, 1935 - November 16th, 2023
Margaret Alma Souza passed away November 16, 2023, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was born on March 22, 1935 in Los Angeles, California to Mary “Alma” & Glenn Wolfe. She and older brother William grew up in the LA and Riverside areas. After graduating from Riverside High School, Margaret graduated with Honors from the University of Southern California, earning a Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing. Margaret married Donald Souza in 1965 and moved to Downey, California where she resided most of her life. She is survived by her husband Don, son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Kayleen Souza, daughter and son-in-law Mary and Eric Howard, and 4 granddaughters, Lila, Mackenzie, Dakota, and Brooklyn. Margaret was dedicated to caring for others, and spent her entire career in Nursing. Upon graduation from USC, she was asked to become an instructor at the California Hospital School of Nursing, where she taught until it closed. She continued working in nursing until she retired. She was a founding member of the Western Conservancy of Nursing History, and held multiple leadership roles. One of her proudest moments was when she received the news that she would be receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from California Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association for her dedication to the nursing profession. She loved college football - especially watching her beloved USC Trojans, as well as the LA Angels play baseball. She loved music and was very artistic. She loved quilting, wood-burning, painting, jewelry making, and many other artistic pursuits. Whether it was Boy Scout Troop Mom or Jobs Daughters Council Member, Margaret was always willing to donate her time to various organizations and charities and spent countless hours helping at fundraisers and events. Margaret was a loving wife, mother and the very best of friends to those who had the privilege to know her. She will be greatly missed by many. The family would like to thank Brighton Gardens of Charlotte and VIA Hospice for their dedicated staff’s care and support. A celebration of life will be held privately by the family, but messages can be shared on the tribute wall. If you wish to make a donation in honor of Margaret, please consider donating to Easter Seals (www.easterseals.com).
