Bernice Omega Williams

Bernice Omega Williams departed this life to take her place amongst the angels and ancestors on Sunday evening February 25, 2024. She was the last of three children born to the late Len & Lucille Franklin. Bernice was preceded in death by her brother Robert Franklin and sister Evelyn Williams. Bernice grew up in a loving home with her parents and siblings in Pamplin, Virginia. In the early 1950’s, she relocated to Harlem, New York with her mother and older siblings after the passing of her father. She received her education at the First Rock Elementary School of Prince Edward County, Virginia, middle school in the Bronx and Jane Addams Vocational High School borough of the Bronx. She resided in Brooklyn, NY until relocating to Charlotte, NC in 2016. She was an avid reader chucked full of common sense and wisdom beyond anything you could imagine. Her serene tranquil and peaceful spirit was a guide and salvation to many she touched. She prided herself on being a loving and nurturing mother to her children. Equipping them with the necessary tools to navigate in a world in and outside of the environment they were raised. By her actions and deeds she demonstrated that your world was so much more than what was in front of you. She is survived by her husband Curtis Williams, children Vincent (Beverly) Williams and Robin Williams. Five grandchildren, Lauren, Devin, Ashely, Kyle and Niaya Williams. Three great grandchildren, Aalani Williams, Shayne and Tori Brown. Various other nieces, nephews, brothers, and sister- in-laws. Her love for her family and those in her life was always layered with love, laughter, understanding and soft-spoken wisdom, common sense and calm. She will be greatly missed. What a miraculous human experience it was to have her in our lives.
