Marilyn Lewis Harrison

Marilyn Lewis Harrison, a beloved family member, friend, and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2024, at the age of 92. She was born on December 13, 1931, to the late Clarence Lewis and Amadilla (Dee) Lewis. As the last surviving child of seven siblings, Marilyn's death marks the end of an era for the Lewis family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Clarence Brooks Lewis, Jr., David Andrew Lewis, Robert (Bobby) Neal Lewis, John Henry Lewis, Margaret (Peggy) Lewis, and Betty Lewis Troutman. Although Marilyn didn't have any children, she formed a special bond with her primary caregiver of many years, David Burrill, whom she considered the son she never had. She also adored her nieces and is survived by Barbara Bruce (Mike), Debbie Ippolito (Chris), and Mary Gail Byrd (Bobby). Marilyn was a devoted member of SouthPark Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for over 50 years, where she found joy and purpose in serving her church community. Her unwavering faith and commitment to her church inspired all who knew her. Affectionately known as the "Mayor" of her small community in Myer's Park neighborhood, Marilyn's warm smile and friendly demeanor made her a beloved figure among her neighbors. She was often seen walking her cherished dog, Rocky, and never failed to greet passersby with a kind word and a smile. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the kind and caring staff at Via Health Partners, as well as to Marilyn's devoted care team: David Burrill, Bob O'Brien, and Alisa O'Brien, for their exceptional love and care. A Celebration of Life service will be held on May 11th, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at SouthPark Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 6650 Park South Drive, Charlotte, NC 28210. In honor of Marilyn's memory, donations may be made to Via Health Partners and SouthPark Christian Church.
