Arlan Everett Sterling 86, Jefferson passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Watertown Hospital. Arlan was born in Crandall, South Dakota on December 28,1937, to Mabel (Holler) and Everett Sterling. In 1949 Arlan and his parents with siblings moved to Jefferson, WI. Jefferson is where he called home and built his life. Upon graduation from Jefferson High School in 1955 he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he loaded ordnance onto aircraft in Delaware and Colorado. After his military service he moved back to Jefferson and met Judy Raabe, who he was married to for over 60 years. During those years he started a family, raised two boys and was an uncle to many nieces and nephews. He worked at Borgs Textile until he landed a job at the US Postal Service delivering mail in Jefferson for 24 years. Those who knew him called him Arlie. In addition to family and work Arlie loved the great outdoors. Fishing Wisconsin rivers and lakes, hunting pheasants and ducks, and of course his favorite was his annual deer hunting trip with family and friends in Northern Wisconsin. He enjoyed being outside, whether it was delivering the mail or being a sportsman. He is survived by his wife Judy (Raabe) Sterling, sons Todd (Megan) Sterling of Rocklin CA and Peter Sterling of Madison WI, his brother Butch (Bonnie) Sterling, two grandchildren Ian Sterling of Rocklin CA and Alex Sterling of Boise ID. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Janis Stammer, Marlys Gilkey and Dorenne Stevens; brother Gary Sterling.
