Kenneth "Ken" Walter Fischer
August 6th, 1929 - November 19th, 2011
KENNETH W. FISCHER age 82 of Helenville passed away unexpectedly at the Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born on August 6, 1929 in Waterloo, son of the late Walter and Lillian (Stahnke) Fischer. He attended Woodside School where he met his soul mate, Evelyn Draeger. They were married on April 9, 1949 at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Farmington. Ken and Evelyn were both confirmed at Farmington Immanuel and have been active lifelong members. Ken began his farming career on the family farm which was located in the Township of Farmington. He was a 25-year member of the Teamsters. He drove truck for Motor Transport of Watertown and Fort Transportation of Fort Atkinson. He retired in 1991. He never lost his love of farming and continued to farm in Helenville. Ken had a deep love for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, gardening, and serving the church and community. He was a proud man with a big heart and many people looked up to him as a father figure. Ken was a kind and generous man. He enjoyed helping his children and anyone in need. Ken was a silent giver. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn of Helenville; their children, Barbara (Edward) Kasper of Helenville, Randy Fischer, Peggy (Tim) Bare, JoAnn (Brad) Meinel, Jennifer (John) Kamenick all of Jefferson; grandchildren, Nathan (Heather) Kasper, Caleb (Sara) Kasper, Jared (Bobbie) Kasper, Julianne and Kristin Bare, Lilly and Amelia Kamenick; great grandchildren, Kendra, Benjamin, and Lora Kasper, and everyone who knew him. He is preceded in death by his sister Elaine and brother-in-law Herbert and a "special daughter" Jane Aumann. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Farmington with the Rev. Richard Pagels officiating. Burial will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery of Farmington. Visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson, and then at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to Farmington Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church or Tomorrow's Hope.
