Charles Clifford Fellows
October 10th, 1933 - January 21st, 2013
Charles Clifford Fellows, who served with distinction as a Captain and pilot in the U.S. Air Force, and then as Captain for United Airlines, died Monday, January 21, after a valiant seven-year battle against non-Hodgkins lymphoma, and later complications of pneumonia. He was 79. Funeral services will be held at Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church, 10150 E. Belleview Avenue, Englewood, CO, Monday, January 28. Viewing will be at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The committal service will be at Ft. Logan Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. Charles was born October 10, 1933, in Hazard, Nebraska, the only child of loving parents, Walter R. and Emalou Fellows. During those hard-scrabble Depression years, the family moved from Nebraska to California to Sand Point, Idaho. While they lacked financial resources, they were rich in the bonds of love, voracious reading, and the pursuit of learning. Charles graduated from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, in 1956, with a degree in economics, where he was also enlisted in ROTC. Upon graduation, he was commissioned at George Wright Air Force Base in Spokane. During his eight years of military service, Charles was stationed in Morocco, Travis Air Force Base in California, and other locations. In 1964, Charles was hired as a pilot by United Airlines, where he worked until his retirement in 1993, retiring as a DC-10 captain. Charles served as a Stephen Minister from 2010 until his death. Charles is survived by his wife, author, Sandra Lamb, of Denver; daughter, MaryAnn Capen, and husband, the Reverend Todd A. Capen of Kailua, Hawaii, and their two daughters, Aubree and Amaris; son, Douglas Walter Fellows, and wife, Rita Verde-Fellows of Lodi, California. His beloved son, Mark Charles Fellows, preceded him in death in 1989. He is also survived by three stepsons: Christopher David Scroggins and wife, Alexa Carina Gulliford and son, Lachlan of Oakland, California; Eric Andrew Scroggins and wife, Susana Mercedes, and their four children: Raphael, Paloma, Diego, and Fredricka of Los Angeles, California; and Jay Robert Scroggins, and wife, Rebecca Diane, and their two daughters, Samantha and Madeline of Charlotte, North Carolina.
