David Lee Barnes

DAVID L. BARNES, age 84 of Jefferson passed away Wednesday September 23, 2015 at his home in Jefferson. He was born on August 25, 1931 in Palmyra, Wisconsin, son of the late Weeden G. and Verna (Romig) Barnes. He married Inez Schuld on November 18, 1950 in the St. John the Baptist Church Rectory. She preceded him in death on January 18, 2008. David was employed as a Printer Pressman for the Jefferson Banner, Badger Press, and W. D. Hoard & Sons. He also did some hobby printing out of his basement for friends and family. David and Inez owned and operated Barney's Drive-In in Jefferson from 1969-1979. He was an avid outdoors-man, enjoying hunting, trapping and fishing. He made his own wine from grapes he grew. He volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 147 for many years, and served on the BSA Council. David was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Jefferson. He is survived by his family; Children Michael (Susan) Barnes of Tomahawk, Gwendolyn Mulks of Lincoln IL, Rae Jean (James) Dunnington of Jefferson, Bradley (Vicki) Barnes of Jefferson, Dawn (James) Swan of Pardeeville, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. He is further preceded in death by his sister Nadean Nordsletten and brother Jackie Barnes. A Celebration of David's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday September 30, 2015 At St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Jefferson with the Rev. David Zandt officiating. Private family burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, in Fort Atkinson. There will be a gathering of friends and family at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
