George Walter Dombrowski
July 14th, 1945 - December 11th, 2009
GEORGE W. DOMBROWSKI age 64 of Jefferson, passed away peacefully at sunset Friday December 11, 2009 at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison after a long and brave battle with leukemia. He was born July 14, 1945 in Waukesha, son of the late Isadore and Helen (Cherek) Dombrowski and married LuAnn Dable on September 13, 1975 at St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran church in Waukesha. George served in the United States Army from 1965-1967 and received the Purple Heart for being wounded in combat. He was an active member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jefferson, where he served on the Church Council and ushered regularly. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #164-REINHARDT-WINDL, the Veteran of Foreign Wars post # of Sullivan and served on the board of directors for the County-City Credit Union. George was an avid fisherman and well known storyteller. A lifelong Packer fan, he also enjoyed deer hunting, gardening, keeping tabs on the stock market, visiting casinos and decorating his yard with vast displays of Christmas lights. George will be deeply missed by his wife LuAnn of Jefferson and is survived by daughters Cindy Dombrowski of Sun Prairie, Jill (Jason) Rodefeld of Sun Prairie and Adrea Dombrowski of Jefferson; his son George Dombrowski Jr. of Jefferson; and his grandchildren Logan, Ava and Cooper Rodefeld. He is further survived by his sisters Geri (Ted) Heil of Oconomowoc, Barb (Al) Moros of Sussex, Mary Fuller of Lake Mills and Rosie (Dan) Reid of Waukesha; his brothers Paul (Donna) Dombrowski of Delafield and Walter (Amy) Dombrowski of Oconomowoc; his sister-in-law Marge Dombrowski of Waukesha; and family and friends too numerous to mention. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter Lisa and brother Patrick. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday December 17th at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jefferson Wisconsin, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Comstock officiating, burial with Military Honors will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 16th from 4:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. and then again on Thursday at the church from 12:00 noon until the time of services. The family would like to extend special thanks the nursing staff and doctors at the Veteran's Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion they showed to George and the entire family during his struggle these last days.
