MAY E. MERCADO age 78 of Fort Atkinson passed away on Thursday December 23, 2010, at UW Hospital in Madison. She was born on May 4, 1932 in Janesville, Wisconsin daughter of the late Fred Ivan and Eva (Prein) Walling. She married Enrique C. Mercado on May 10, 1969 at Lake Mills; he preceded her in death on April 6, 2000. May was employed at Borg Textiles of Jefferson until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 164 of Jefferson, and the Jefferson County AARP Chapter. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by her daughters; Barbara Nordberg-Ruda of North Freedom, Bonnie (Justin) Kay of Anacoco LA. Her sons; Roger (Chris) Nordberg of Jefferson, William (Brenda) Barrett of Beaver Dam, David (Kim) Barrett of Merrimac, Michael Brockman of AZ. 17 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren, 3 great great-granchchildren. Two sisters; Mary Alvarado of Cleveland TX, Terri VanAcker of Jefferson, Four brothers; David Walling of Fort Atkinson, Alfred (Val) Walling of New Lisbon, Paul (Cora) Walling of Lake Mills, Harold (Karen) Walling of Fort Atkinson She is further preceded in death by her son; Glare Nordberg, daughter; Katherine Treptow, Brothers; Gilbert and John Walling. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 28, 2010 at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson with the Rev. Vincent Kobosh officiating, burial will follow in the Aztalan-Milford Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 12:45, the Legion Auxiliary will hold their Service of Remembrance at 12:45.
