Evelyn Margaret Fredrickson, 87, of Esko, died Sunday, July 3, 2011 in Inter-Faith Care Center, Carlton. She was born in 1924 in Thomson, Minnesota, the daughter of Hugo and Dagmar Randa. Evelyn married Louis Fredrickson on June 8, 1940 in Cloquet. She had worked as a factory worker for Diamond Match in Cloquet and during the 1960's, she and Louis owned and operated the Hinckley A & W Drive Inn. Evelyn then worked as a baker and cook for R.J. Reynolds Cafeteria in Duluth for seven years and for the J.C. Penney Restaurant in the Miller Hill Mall for six years. Evelyn was a member of Apostolic Lutheran Church in Esko, Carlton VFW Auxiliary, Cloquet Eagles Auxiliary, Cloquet American Legion Auxiliary, Esko Senior Citizens, Esko Historical Society and a former member of Ladies of the Moose. She enjoyed cooking and baking, going to sports events, traveling and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Edward Kavaloski; a son, Lee Louis Fredrickson; a sister, Ruth Anderson and two brothers, Roy and Ray Randa. Evelyn will be deeply missed by her husband of 71 years, Louis, of Carlton and formerly of Esko; her daughter, Cynthia (Harold) Walton of Rush City; her son, Gary (Carolyn) Fredrickson of Esko; three brothers, Marvin (JoAnn) Randa of Esko, Helmer Randa of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Wallace (Mary) Randa of Homosassa, Florida; three sisters, Grace Grider of Columbia Heights, Minnesota, Janet Clemens of North St. Paul and Sharon DeMarre of Oakdale; seven grandchildren, Gina (Joe) Mitchell, Laurie (Steve) Olin, Nicole (Karl) Milberger, Derek (Stephanie) Fredrickson, Angela (Jon) Wimmer, Jamie Kavaloski and Valerie (Ray) Couture; 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. The family offers a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Suncrest and Inter-Faith Care Center for the wonderful care given to Evelyn. Memorial Services were held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 in Apostolic Lutheran Church, Esko. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Esko Athletic Fund.
