S. Rosella Schommer

Age 92 ~ Of St. Paul's Monastery. Died at St. Paul's Monastery on October 11, 2018 having lived and ministered as a Benedictine Sister for 73 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Theckla (Haus) Schommer; brother Edwin (Lucille). After her first vows in 1949, S. Rosella began a career in education. Her ministry took her to schools in Minneapolis, St. Bonifacius, Richfield, Montgomery, Fairfax, & St. Paul. Her career in education also took her to minister in Bogota, Columbia & Havre, Montana. After retiring to the Monastery in 1992, S. Rosella ministered in the Mapletree Childcare Center for 20 years. S. Rosella is survived by her Benedictine Community of Sisters; Associates & Oblates; brother Mark (Sherry); sisters Estelle, Beth, S. Andrine, OSB, S. Andriette, OSB, Fran (Arvid Sorensen) & Lois (Jim Kohout); many nieces & nephews. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday (10/17) 11:00 AM at ST. PAUL'S MONASTERY, 2675 Benet Road, Maplewood. Visitation Tuesday (10/16) 4 - 7 PM with Vigil Service at 7 PM and 1 1/2 hours prior to MASS. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Paul's Monastery.
