Our Darling Aileen Aileen Lynn Leyrer-Rumsey was born in Pascack Valley Hospital in Westwood, New Jersey on December 17th, 1962 to Eileen Alvina Leyrer and Ernest Frank Leyrer. As a young child she and her family moved around a lot. At the time of her birth they lived in Park Ridge, New Jersey then just as Aileen was learning to walk moved to Washing Township, New Jersey. Shortly after that the family moved to Westwood, New Jersey, then to Park Ridge, New Jersey before packing up the family and moving to Denver, Colorado in 1976. Aileen then moved to Lakewood, Colorado and graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1981. After graduation, Aileen got the job she kept her entire life at Mountain Bell, a telecommunications company in Denver, Colorado. Aileen worked for the company for a total of 32 years and went through many company mergers and re-brandings including USWest, Qwest and finally, CenturyLink. Shortly after graduating, Aileen married David Rumsey in 1982. Aileen and David purchased their first home on Arizona Street in 1986 and one year later gave birth to their first son, Joshua Ryan Rumsey on April 28th, 1987. The trio then moved from Arizona Street to West 6th Place in 1991, and once again a year later gave birth to their second son, Connor Frank Rumsey on August 26th, 1992. Aileen, Josh and Connor moved again in 1993 to Jay Street where Josh and Connor attended the majority of Elementary and Middle school. After a difficult few months in 2002 following a car accident Aileen, Josh and Connor rallied together as a family and came back stronger than ever. Then in 2005, the family moved to Aileen†™s dream house on Eldridge Street in the foothills of Colorado. Joshua graduated from Bear Creek High School in 2005 and Connor followed in his mother†™s footsteps, graduating from Green Mountain High School in 2010. Aileen Lynn Leyrer-Rumsey was the most amazing woman that has ever walked this earth. She placed the needs of her children and animals before her own. She cared greatly to help less fortunate families, children and animals across the globe and did so every day of her life, whether it was giving someone five bucks on 16th Street Mall or donating to relief efforts overseas. Through out her entire life she took in any stray animal that showed up at her door and made it her mission to give them a better home. The saying †œyour smile brightens a room† could not be better represented by anyone other than Aileen. Not only would her smile brighten an entire room but it also warmed the hearts of anyone who saw it and a simple hug from her could relieve your stresses, even if just for a moment. Whenever she entered a room she would make the whole space vibrate with calming energy as her smile gleamed across the room. She was a talented artist who enjoyed playing piano, painting and drawing. Aileen loved exploring the outdoors, especially at the cabin her family owns in Grand Lake, Colorado and even more so when she could explore the town with her beloved Newfoundland dog Koda that the Rumsey†™s adopted in 2008. She was also very interested in communicating with the other side and was known by family and friends for her love of tarot card reading, which she was very talented at doing. Aileen also deeply believed in the afterlife and always said that after she passed she would communicate with her loved ones in their dreams as she watched over us from a better place. Aileen is survived by her sons Joshua and Connor Rumsey, her mother Eileen Leyrer, her sister Coleen Veraldo and many aunts, uncles, and cousins from New York to Colorado and everywhere in between. Thank you for coming to express your love of our mother.
