Donna M. Swanson
August 12th, 1927 - September 9th, 2013
Donna Maxine Swanson passed away on Monday, September 9th, at Mountain Vista Retirement Community in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert (Bert) Swanson and two sisters, Pauline Lindsey and Roberta Oliver. Donna was born on August 12, 1927, to Ross and Mabel Dickens in Hoxie, Kansas. Her father managed the railroad depot in Hoxie for Union Pacific Railroad. As a child, Donna†™s family moved to Denver, Colorado. She attended Denver North High School. Bert and Donna were married on December 11, 1946. They developed lasting relationships with Donna†™s sorority members and their husbands, as well as Bert†™s work associates and their wives, other friends and neighbors. Bert and Donna enjoyed playing bridge with their friends, and Donna became a Masters Duplicate Bridge Player with Distinction. Donna is survived by two sons: David Swanson (Kathy) and Richard Swanson (Kay). She also leaves four amazing grandchildren who Donna loved deeply: Kristofor Swanson, Nisa McGinn (Bernard), Kori Freeman (Scott), and Kenneth Swanson. On behalf of Donna, her family extends profound gratitude to the staff of Mountain Vista Retirement Community and the Aspen Mortuary. A private family interment was held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on September 16th, 2013. Donations in honor of Donna†™s Memory may be made to the Red Cross.
