Bonita "Bonnie" Rae Holt

Bonita Rae Holt, 76, Inver Grove Heights, died May 23, 2024, in St. Paul from complications due to a stroke. Bonnie was born June 26, 1947, in Grafton, ND, to Dorn and Delores (Carlson) Trenda. She grew up in Onamia, MN, at the resort her parents owned on Lake Mille Lacs, the Drift Inn. She graduated from Onamia High School in 1965. She attended St. Cloud State University until she married Ronald Beaton in 1966. They settled in Fargo, where Bonnie worked at US Bank and loved attending her boys’ sporting events. In 1982 she married her high school sweetheart (they were Homecoming King and Queen in 1964), Charles Holt, and they settled in Inver Grove Heights. Bonnie went back to school and earned her CMA, working for Allina Healthcare. Her and Chuck’s favorite place to travel was Hawaii. After they retired, they discovered they loved their winters in Arizona so much that they made their year-round home in Mesa for nine years before Chuck’s death in 2014. Bonnie then moved back to Minnesota to be near her family. Bonnie never met a stranger; she treated everyone she saw like a dear friend. She loved to eat out, go shopping, watch crime shows, and pet dogs. She was a beautiful singer who was often asked to sing at weddings. Her grandchildren were everything to her and she spent as much time with them as she could and attended as many activities and events with them as possible. She was thrilled to attend her eldest granddaughter’s wedding in Mexico in December. We will think of her when we are at a beach, remembering the joy she always had when she was near water. Bonnie is survived by her Sons and Daughters-in-law, Britt and Tina Beaton, Luck, WI, and Sean Beaton and Cynthia Miller, Roseville; her beloved Grandchildren Natalie (Jeremiah) Callahan, Nicole Beaton, Gustave Beaton, and Susanna Beaton; her Mother, Delores Fenske, Hutchinson, MN; her Brother and Sister-in-law, Douglas and Suzanne Trenda, Detroit Lakes, MN, Step-Granddaughter Jessica (Nate) Wojtysiak, Step-Great-Grandchildren Paityn and Walker Wojtysiak, and many adored nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her Father, Dorn Trenda; her Husband of 32 years, Chuck Holt; and precious Golden Retrievers Abigail, Madison, and Sugar. The family would like to thank the staff at Inver Glen Senior Living and Lyngblomsten Care Center for their care of Bonnie. A memorial service will be held June 17 at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, West St. Paul. Visitation will be at 10:30 am, service at 11:30 am, with reception to follow.
