Devin Nathaniel McCauley age 20 of Woodbury passed away on July 4, 2015. He was born December 22, 1994 to Pamela McCauley Logan and Walter Lee Ruffin IV in Opelika, Alabama. Devin was Pamela's only child, but he was blessed to have two half-sisters, Cierra Ruffin and Marley Ruffin; a step-sister, Sydney Logan and a step brother, Anthony Logan. Devin gave his life to the Lord at the age of nine. He was a member of Mount Olivet Missionary Baptist Church in St. Paul, MN and participated in the Sunday School Ministry plays, music, sign language and audio ministries. He also participated in the National Baptist Congress. Devin shared his faith with family, friends, and those he traveled with on mission trips to Managua, Nicaragua in 2013 and 2014. Because of his relationship with God, Devin knew right from wrong and chose to live in God’s will.. Devin was a gifted and creative storyteller with a vivid imagination, resulting in multiple artistic expressions. He would draw tales of heroic and valiant characters and sketch collections of cartoon stories about his friends and relatives. Devin would create costumes to accompany the stories which he would energetically act out for friends and family. Devin was six when he received his first drum set from his grandparents. He attended Walker West Music Academy to develop his skills as a drummer. He used this skill as one of the drummers for the Mt. Olivet youth choir. Devin was passionate about music and teaching music to children and young adults. Devin's talents extended beyond the drums to include the ability to listen to a song and then play it by ear on the piano. In May 2013, Devin graduated from East Ridge High School in Woodbury, Minnesota where he was a member of the Pep and Concert Bands. Devin's aspirations to be a band and choir teacher led him to Concordia University, St. Paul, where he majored in Music and Choral Education. While there he participated in the Jazz and Pep Bands, Percussion Ensemble, Gospel Choir, and the Christus Choir. Devin took his music seriously and spent many late nights perfecting his craft. As Devin flourished at Concordia University, he auditioned and was selected for lead roles in plays produced by the Theater Department. Devin recently participated in the 2015 "Spring Into Dance" production, where he choreographed and scored a music and dance routine. Loving Devin came easy to everyone because Devin believed in treating everyone with respect and fairness. He was a big brother to many friends and an excellent role model for all the children he interacted with. Devin's contagious smile and infectious laugh will be missed by all who knew him. Devin was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard McCauley. He is survived by his mother, Pamela McCauley Logan (Thomas Jr.); father, Walter Ruffin IV; grandparents, Earline McCauley, Wilmon Ruffin, Walter Ruffin III, Diana Logan, Thomas Logan Sr.; Sisters, Cierra Ruffin, Marley Ruffin; Step-sister, Sydney Logan; Step-brother, Anthony Logan; Uncles, Aaron McCauley, Travis Logan, Trevon Logan; Aunts, Candace McCauley, Wilisa Ruffin, Camille Logan; and a host of cousins, relatives and extended family. We Entrusted Devin McCauley's Care To

Spielman Mortuary

Spielman Mortuary

Spielman Mortuary has been helping Saint Paul families since 1950 when Kenneth and Helen Spielman purchased the National Funeral Home. For over 30 years, the couple lived above the funeral home and took just one vacation. They sold the home in 1984 to the Willwerscheid family. We still operate Spielman Mortuary with the same traditions of pride, sensitivity, value, and attention to detail that the Spielmans followed for over three decades....
