James Allen Logan was born on May 21, 1944 in Coffeeville, Mississippi to George and Annie Mae Logan. He was raised in his family home, the fourth eldest of 16 children. After graduating high school, James moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, where he would spend the remainder of his life with his family. James served his community in several capacities. At age 22, he was enlisted into the US military. While on a brief leave, James returned to Mississippi where he met his future wife, LoraEtta, to whom he was married for 57 years. James and LoraEtta were parents to two sons, James Jr. and Jerold. Following his time in the military, James joined the St. Paul Fire Department, where he proudly served for 23 years. In retirement, James loved spending his time with his five grandchildren, Jazmine, Jayden, Julian, Alisa, and Quinn. His family was the center of his life. He enjoyed hanging out with his siblings in the alley, cooking food for his loved ones, fixing up anything he could find, and gathering around his wife, kids, and grandkids to tell his favorite stories from his life. James started every morning sitting at his kitchen counter, sharing a cup of coffee with Jerold. The family is at peace knowing they can do this together again. James is survived by his wife, LoraEtta, and son, James Jr; daughter-in-law, Leah; grandchildren, Jazmine, Jayden, Julian, Alisa, and Quinn; siblings, Clara, Leobia, Thomas, Joyce, Ernestine, Bobby, Iris, Samuel, Evelyn, McClender, Murdis, and Laster; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by son, Jerold; parents, George and Annie Mae; and siblings George, Mary, and Charles.

Spielman Mortuary

Spielman Mortuary

Spielman Mortuary has been helping Saint Paul families since 1950 when Kenneth and Helen Spielman purchased the National Funeral Home. For over 30 years, the couple lived above the funeral home and took just one vacation. They sold the home in 1984 to the Willwerscheid family. We still operate Spielman Mortuary with the same traditions of pride, sensitivity, value, and attention to detail that the Spielmans followed for over three decades....
