Carmella Petrosino Sivik
May 1st, 1930 - December 17th, 2015
Carmella Petrosino Sivik, 85, of Amsterdam, and for the last four years a resident of Pine View Commons in Johnstown, died peacefully on December 17, 2015. Carmella, a daughter of Alfonso and Felicia DiBlasi Petrosino was born May 1, 1930 in Amsterdam, NY. She was a 1948 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Carmella started her 60 plus year career with insurance right after graduation at Britell Agency Inc. Carmie worked her way up through all positions in the company, ultimately serving as president until her retirement in 2011, due to failing health. Carmie's like for her business was evident to everyone who knew her. In 1983 Carmella married Denytro Sivik. She and "Sonny" enjoyed 17 happy years together before his sudden death in 2000. Carmella led a full and active life, including, in her earlier years, downhill skiing, hiking the Adirondacks and traveling, including several trips to Europe. Carmella is survived by her devoted and much loved brother, Frank Petrosino; sister-in-law, Josephine Matarazzo Petrosino; nieces Phyllis Tesiero Koller, Deborah DelCostello LaBate, Felicia Petrosino Bucciferro, Gail Petrosino Marotta, Karen Petrosino Henderson and Patricia DelCostello Tomkins; nephews, David Petrosino and Ronald DelCostello; great-nieces and nephews also survive. Carmella was predeceased by her sisters, Edith Tesiero and Antoinette DelCostello; brother, Joseph Petrosino. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 21st at 11:00am at St. Mary's Church, 156 East Main Street by Father Pascal A. Iannotti, relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday morning from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Chapel of St. Mary's Church prior to the Mass. Burial is to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Donations may be made in Carmella's name to Pine View Commons Nursing Home, 201 S. Melcher Street, Johnstown, NY 12095; where Carmella was attentively cared for the past four years. Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. Online condolences may be made online at www.brbsfuneral.com
