Madeline W. Burr
January 6th, 1924 - December 13th, 2015
Mrs. Madeline W. Burr, age 91, of Gloversville, died December 13, 2015 at her residence in Gloversville, her loving family was by her side. She was born January 6, 1924 in Amsterdam, the daughter of the late George and Hulda Nadler Menge. She is a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School and later worked locally at Imperial Glove Company. After her marriage to Wallace E. Burr on August 28, 1948, they started a family and she spent her time as a mother and wife caring for her home and family. She enjoyed flower gardening, oil painting, traveling and was a member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church. Madeline is survived by her children, Wallace G. Burr(Lisa) of Gloversville, Darlene Holubetz(John) of Gloversville and Valerie Crampton(Eric) of East Greenbush; grandchildren, Jeffery Holubetz, Joshua Burr, Mallory Tobia, Jason Burr, Daniel Crampton, Heidi Crampton, Brian Bentley and Ken Lawford; great grandchildren, Emily, Garrett and Ethan Holubetz, Madison and Makenlie Burr. She is also survived by her sisters, Arbutus Patterson, Hulda James and Darlene Barker. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 37 years, Wallace E. Burr, and siblings, Dorothy Gross, Bernice Eaton, George Menge, Herbert Menge and a sister in law, Genevieve Lizor. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00PM to 7:00PM on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville NY 12078. A Funeral Service take place at the funeral home on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 11am with the Rev. Christopher Hamm officiating. Interment will take place following the service at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville NY 12078.
