Albert Botch
May 23rd, 1934 - November 14th, 2015
Albert Botch, 81, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday November 14, 2015. Albert was the son of Albert and Dorothy Brundige Botch and a lifetime resident of Gloversville. Botch, as he was lovingly known, attended Gloversville High School, and remained a proud supporter of the Huskies and everything maroon and white. Botch married Jeanne Vietri Botch in 1958 and they shared 55 loving years together before she predeceased him in March of 2014. Botch was a Navy veteran, who served proudly in the Korean war. He previously worked at Lee Dye, Coleco, Fashion Tanning, and most recently the Knesseth Israel Synagogue, until he retired in September of 2015. Botch was devout member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and proudly volunteered his time to the Gloversville Football Alumni Club, helping put up the first stadium lights above Husky Field. He is survived by his three children: Toni Lynn Calabrese of Saratoga Springs, James (Helen) Botch of Mayfield, and David (Susan) Botch of Queensbury; as well as his seven grandchildren: Christian Calabrese (Alyssa Carey), Dana Calabrese (James Fox), Jaclyn Calabrese, Annie Botch, Emma Botch, David Botch, and Jillian Botch. Botch is also survived by his step-mother Eileen Nieuwboer of Johnstown, his step-sister Peg Gowans of Gloversville, many nieces and nephews, and countless close friends. In addition to his wife, Botch was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Barbara Botch Thrall of Johnstown. Botch will be remembered for his work ethic, the pride he took in his family, and dedication as a Yankee fan. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 18 at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St; Gloversville. Interment will take place following the service at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave; Gloversville, NY 12078 or the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nile Mile Tree Road; Gloversville, NY, 12078. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville NY 12078.
