April 26th, 1929 - September 13th, 2015
Beatrice "Bea" C. Papa, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, age 86, passed away peacefully after a two year battle with cancer on September 13, 2015, in Gloversville, NY. Bea was born on April 26, 1929, in Gloversville, NY to her loving parents Herman and Mary Carbonelli. She graduated from Gloversville High School in 1949 and received her associate's degree in Business Management from Albany Business College in 1951. Upon graduation she accepted a position at General Telephone, where she worked for several years, followed by a position at the Fulton County Farm Bureau for 5 years before working for her father's insurance business. Bea, however, will be remembered most as a great wife, loving mother and grandmother. In 1956, Bea married Charles A. Papa in Gloversville and had two children. Bea was also a socially active woman who was deeply involved in Nathan Littauer Hospital's Auxiliary service and a Sister of the Holy Spirit, for most of her life. She enjoyed spending her time with family, friends, golfing, and the Tuesday night Sunset Bowling league. Her family and friends will always remember her as a loving, caring, passionate, generous, and welcoming person with a beautiful smile. Bea is survived by her husband , Charles A Papa, of Gloversville; Daughter, Lisa Stanyon (Donald F Stanyon, Jr.) of Gloversville; her Son, Charles "Chuck" D. Papa (Rosemary Rice) of Mayfield; her grandsons Christopher M . Stanyon of Gloversville and Johnathan M. Stanyon of Gloversville; her step grandchildren Melanie Lathrope of Gloversville, Amanda Rosa of Voorheesville and Jeffrey Town of Broadalbin; and her step great grandchild Carson Lathrope of Gloversville. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Herman A Carbonelli and Mary Carbonelli, of Gloversville. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 16th at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted 9:15 AM Thursday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St; Gloversville. The Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak will be the celebrant. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Beatrice's life. The family would like to thank all of our family and friends for their unwavering support and love throughout Bea's life. Entombment will take place in the family mausoleum at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to Nathan Littauer Nursing Home, 99 E. State St; Gloversville, NY, 12078.
