Robert B. Quick of Amsterdam, New York and Boynton Beach, Florida died suddenly on February 18, while in Florida. Bob was born September 24, 1943 to the late Frank and Cecelia (Szymanski) Quick. He was a communicant of St. Anne's Episcopal Church. He attended the Amsterdam City schools and went on to graduate from the University of Buffalo. After teaching briefly, he worked for 25 years in New York State Government. After leaving State service, he went on to found Tailwind Associates, a computer consulting company with offices in Schenectady, New York, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Austin, Texas. He served as CEO for 20 years, until retiring to a consulting position within the company in early 2014. Bob loved his community and was a proud and generous sponsor of many city events and initiatives. He was a past member of the city AIDA board, and was currently serving on the boards of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, St. Mary's Healthcare, and Liberty Enterprises. Bob was an avid sports enthusiast. He played on various softball and basketball teams in the area and coached and managed several teams in the Amsterdam Night League. He was co-owner of the Broken Bow Spirit, a professional fast pitch softball team that went on to win two world companionships. Bob was a fervent fan of Syracuse University Basketball and the New York Yankees. He also loved playing golf with his friends and was a former member of the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course and Rolling Hills Country Club. Bob is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth Clough, daughter Kelly Araya (Chris), and step-son William E. Hawkins (Michele). He also leaves behind his granddaughters Jillian Araya, Lauren Araya and Madison Hawkins, his cat Valentine, and many lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Cecelia Quick and his son Kevin Matthew Quick. Bob will be remembered as an entrepreneur, businessman, community leader, philanthropist and a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, who lived life to the fullest. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 11 o'clock at St. Ann's Episcopal Church, 37 Division Street, Amsterdam with Fr. Neal Longe , Rector, presiding. Interment will take place at a later date in Hagaman Cemetery, Hagaman, New York. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 4 until 8p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, where his arrangements have been entrusted.
