Selma Pearl Schulman
June 30th, 1917 - September 4th, 2014
Selma Pearl Schulman, 97, a long-time resident of Gloverville, NY, passed away peacefully Thursday September 4th, 2014 at a nursing home in Montclair, NJ, where she spent her last years. Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1917, she was the daughter of Samuel and Hattie Gilson Shapiro. She attended New York University. In 1939, she married Jacob Schulman, and moved to Gloversville to raise her family. Mrs. Schulman, a long-time member of the Knesseth Israel Synagogue, was an avid bridge player, golfer and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. After Mr. Schulman's death, she relocated to Florida and later moved to New Jersey to be closer to her family. Survivors include her daughters Carol Lewkowicz and Beverly Kohn; son Steven Schulman, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Selma is predeceased by her husband Jacob, who passed away in 1987. A graveside service will be held on Sunday September 7th, 2014 at 2:30pm at the Knesseth Israel Cemetery, Gloversville, NY with Rabbi Bomzer officiating.
