Mr. John J. Slovack Jr., 81, of Gloversville, passed away June 5, 2014. He was born July 28, 1932 in Gloversville, son of the late John J. Slovack and Theresa Steffek Slovack. Mr. Slovack graduated Gloversville High School, class of 1955 and was a member of the Church of The Holy Spirit. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S.Gearing D.D. 710 from 1951-1955. He was married to Janice L. King on September 11, 1954. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1955, he worked as a Journeyman Plumber out of Albany, Local # 7 until retirement. In addition to his wife Janice King Slovack of Gloversville, he is survived by two sons; John Stephen Slovack (Penny) and Joseph Mark Slovack, both of Gloversville. He is also survived by his dear grandson John Paul Slovack of Albany, N.Y. He was predeceased by a sister Mary Insognia. In accordance with John's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Private urn burial will take place at the convenience of his family in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 10 Spring St. Gloversville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville.
