Vincent L. Rossi, 86, passed away peacefully Saturday evening at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, VT. Born in Oklahoma City OK on March 15, 1928, the son of the late Filomeno and Clara Linares Raso (Rossi) he lived in this area for the past sixty years. During the Korean War, he served with the US Air Force and was stationed in Germany as a military driver. This past October he was recognized by the government along with several other Korean Veterans for their service, and was awarded a special gold cross medal. Vincent was a meat cutter for nearly sixty years, lastly at Sorrentino's Market in Clifton Park, retiring at age 82. He had a very strong work ethic and stopped only at the onset of his last illness. He was of the Roman Catholic faith and assisted Father Holden at the weekly Mass at the nursing home until one week before his death. Vince's family is most grateful to the wonderful staff at the Vermont Veterans Home, for their compassion and care to the veterans who are so fortunate to reside there. He leaves his children; Vincent J. (Rob) Rossi, Maria L. (James) Ostrowski all of Clifton Park, Mitchell D. Rossi of Scotia, Annette (David) Saunders of Gansevoort, Paul (Renee) Rossi of Mayfield, Prescott (Carla) Rossi of Rochester, Suzanne Rossi of Philadelphia and Clara and Mary Frances Rossi; grandchildren; Mikhail, Maddelena and Aidan Ostrowski, Daniel, Harrison, Mason, Evelina and Isabella Rossi, Raffaella, Anna, and Tristan Saunders, Luca Rossi- Meyer, Sarah, Lacey and Rebecca Dubois ; great grandson Isaac Larin, as well as his former wife and friend Elizabeth Rossi. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 9:00 am at St. Stanislaus Church, 50 Cornell Street , Amsterdam by Fr. O. Robert DeMartinis assisted by Deacon Michael Ryba . Interment will follow with full military honors in St. Casimir's Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 3:00-6:00 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Memorials may be made in his memory to St. Stanislaus Church, or the Montgomery Co. Office for Aging, 123 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam 12010. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
