Norton "Nort" F. Tryon

Tribes Hill, NY—Norton F. (Nort) Tryon, 80, of Westminster Drive, passed away Friday morning at the River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam. Born on the family farm, October 21, 1933 in Tribes Hill, New York, he was the son of the late John F. and Katherine Curry Tryon. He was a lifelong resident and a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Nort was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was employed for over 40 years by the Town of Mohawk Highway Department and as its Superintendent his last 5 years until his retirement in 1995. Nort also worked as a security guard at the Fonda Speed Way and the Fonda Fair. Nort was a member and served as a past Elder of the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church, he also was a former member of the Tribes Hill Volunteer Fire Department and the Town of Mohawk Volunteer Fire Department. In his early years Nort enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking Sunday drives with his family to Northampton Beach. He also helped his friends on their family farms and spent time in his garden at home. On June 16, 1956 he married the former Donna Davis who passed away January 25, 2001. Survivors include two sons, Donald Tryon of Tribes Hill and David Tryon of Amsterdam; his daughter, Noreene Tryon of Tribes Hill; a brother Gene Tryon of Tribes Hill: three grandchildren, Lynn Tryon, Morgan Bahr and Nicole Semyone; two great grandchildren; Eljan Bahr and Chance Bahr; and his beloved dog Kasey. Nort was predeceased by his brother Robert Tryon and his sister Janet Frascatore. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 5:00 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Larry Greenwald officiating. Burial will take place in mid spring at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 3 pm to 5 pm at the funeral home.
