Elinore J. Armstrong

Elinore Jane Armstrong, 92 years old, of Walnut Street, Gloversville, went to be with the Lord Friday, March 14, 2014, at home surrounded by her family. Born on August 25, 1921, she was the daughter of Earl & Lula Edwards Ford. Jane graduated from Gloversville High School in 1939. She worked as a seamstress for the Grandoe Glove Factory and Robison & Smith, Inc. Jane was a member of the Bannertown Senior Club in Mayfield and enjoyed teaching a sewing class for many years at the Shirley Luck Senior Center in Johnstown. She won many local awards for her quilts. She also enjoyed writing short stories. She received the first-place award in the second annual Writers Circle Fiction Writing contest held in 2012 at the Senior Service Center of Gloversville. Jane was predeceased by her husband, Robert Armstrong, in 2006, after celebrating more than 65 years of marriage. Jane is survived by her children, Robert R. Kathy Armstrong of Fonda and Nancy Kenneth Fleck of Johnstown; grandchildren Chad Shawna Fleck of Gloversville, Aaron Jennifer Fleck of Gloversville and Bryan Fleck of Johnstown; great-grandchildren Mariah, Jacob, Niyokei and Donavan, all of Gloversville; a brother, Russell Patricia Ford of Mayfield; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 18, at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home on Fremont St., Gloversville, with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville, following the services. Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, March 17, from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
