Martha Z. Knickerbocker, 94, of Knickerbocker Heights died peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2014 at home. Born in Scotia, NY on December 16, 1919 she was the daughter of John and Lisetta Zuend. She spent her entire life in the local area. Martha was educated in the Scotia schools and then earned her Bachelor's Degree at Wayne University in Michigan. A community minded individual, Martha was a volunteer for her church, girl scouts, PTA and the fire hall helping out when needed. She also enjoyed gardening and watching the birds. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. On December 27, 1942 she was united in marriage to Ira Knickerbocker. That union lasted 54 years until his passing on January 6, 1996. Survivors include her eight children Jo-An Campbell, Lynnda Hochmuth, Jean Horsky, Ira Knickerbocker, Kathryn Carson, John Knickerbocker, Jeffery Knickerbocker and David Knickerbocker; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11 o'clock at the Cranesville Reformed Church, Cranesville, NY. Burial will follow in the Hagaman Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 5 until 7p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cranesville Reformed Church or to Community Hospice of Amsterdam. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
