Mr. Francis A. Ryan Sr., 59, of Broadalbin, passed away unexpectedly on February 24, 2014 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. He was born February 2, 1955 in Albany, son of the late Thomas J. and Alice Kosciusko Ryan Sr. Mr. Ryan was educated at Blessed Sacrament Parochial School in Albany and graduated Bishop Maginn High School. Frank proudly served his country in the Air Force from 1979-1983. Devoted to his family, Frank especially adored his grandchildren and spent as much time with them as possible. Although disabled twelve years ago, Frank was a hard worker and enjoyed his job as a truck driver for Clemente Latham Concrete. He was a Teamster member of local 294 in Albany. Survivors include his children; Francis A. Ryan Jr. Cindy of Broadalbin, James T. Ryan and his companion Danielle Jones of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., a sister Mary Paulsen Jerry of Albany, brothers; Thomas J. Ryan of Albany and Paul "Red" Ryan Marie of Ballston Spa. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Francis Ryan III, Lexi Ryan, Thomas Ryan and Jeffrey Ryan. Additional survivors include his longtime companion Donna Hartz of Broadalbin, the mother of his children Betsy Ryan of Broadalbin, stepchildren; Scott Hartz and his companion Amy Pechtel, Craig Hartz Susan, step-grandchildren: Samantha Mueller, Colby Hartz, Kirsten Hartz, Brooke Hartz, Griffin Goodemote, Brady Goodemote several nieces and nephews also survive and his sister-in-law Lynn Ryan of Henderson, Nevada. Mr. Ryan was pre-deceased by a sister Patricia Mazzarello and a brother William Ryan. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 11-1 pm at Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main St. Broadalbin. Burial with military honors, will take place 11 am Monday March 3, 2014 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the American Legion Post #337, 19 N. Main St. Broadalbin, N.Y. 12025. The Ryan family invites friends to join them at the American Legion Post in Broadalbin following calling hours, for continued fellowship and celebration of Francis's life.
