William D. Ayers, 44, of Fairmont Avenue, Amsterdam died suddenly on Sunday, December 22, 2013. A lifelong area resident, Bill was born in Gloversville and graduated from Fonda- Fultonville Central School in 1988. He then went on to attend FMCC and graduated from Buffalo State University. Bill was employed as an electrical engineer at General Electric in Schenectady. An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed golfing in the summer and skiing in the winter. He was a wonderful husband and father and a friend to so many. An avid Giants and Yankee fan, his sports bar in his basement was the center for family gatherings and sporting events. Bill also enjoyed traveling the world with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Renee' Carmen- Ayers; his son and best friend, Joshua Ayers; his parents, Zara and Clarence Coddington of Fultonville; four sisters, Amy Mark Van Alstyne of Malta, Lori Ayers of Denver, Crystal Richard Moran of Maryland and Tina Coddington of Troy; one aunt, Iris Jerry Shaul of Canajoharie; one uncle, "Pete" Easterly of Broadalbin; three nieces, Kathryn, Krista and Kyle Carmen; one nephew, Adam Van Alstyne; his father and mother in law, Forbes and Judy Carmen of Dolgeville; and a brother in law, Scott Carmen of Little Falls. Bill was a wonderful individual who always gave to others and choose to live life to the fullest. He selflessly donated his tissue and bone to those less fortunate and to make a difference in their lives. His spirit and smile will live on in all of the hearts that he touched. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 2p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service beginning at Noon at the funeral home. Following all services, everyone is invited to honor Bill at Hales Mills Country Club, 146 Steele Road, Johnstown, NY.
