Mrs. Nora N. Baker, 71, of State Hwy 30 North, Amsterdam, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam. Born in the Town of Providence, NY on October 17, 1942 a daughter of the late George and Nettie Sweet Whitney. She was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. Nora was employed at Lee Dye of Johnstown, Esquire Novelty of Amsterdam and most recently as a Baker in Price Chopper in Amsterdam for many years. She was of the Protestant faith. She is survived by her husband Ronald G. Baker Sr. of Amsterdam, NY, siblings George Whitney, Bertha Emigh and Helen Marcellus, all of Providence, NY, sons Ronald Baker Jr. of Amsterdam, NY, Joseph Wadsworth of Hope Falls, NY, David Baker of Day, NY, daughters Darla Richards of Broadalbin, NY and Vicky VanBuren of Mayfield, NY and step-sons Joseph Baker of Fayetteville, NC and Robert Baker of Amsterdam, NY. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Her hobbies included pen paling, arts and crafts and crocheting. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 P.M. at the Jeffords and Stewart Funeral Home, 85 West Main St., Broadalbin, NY, 12025. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
