Glenn D. Lyons
November 28th, 1943 - March 18th, 2013
Mr. Glenn D. Lyons, 69, of Vandenburg Point Rd., Gloversville, passed away March 18, at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness. He was born November 28, 1943 in Gloversville, son of the late Gordon and Winifred Frank Lyons. He was a graduate of Mayfield High School, class of 1961. He worked several years in leather mills and Johnstown Bowling Center until it closed. He also worked at Kingsboro Golf Course, Pan Am, Perthshire and Taylor Made. Glenn was also self employed in the plumbing & heating business. Mr. Lyons enjoyed softball, bowling and golf. He especially enjoyed family, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Glenn was an avid New York Yankee and Washington Redskin fan. He is survived by his wife Sandra Van Schaffel Lyons, five sons; Glenn Tina, Stephen Denise, Randy Tammy, Christopher, Derrick Lori, and two daughters; Laura Lander and Jami Lyons. Glenn is also survived by two sisters; Lynn Albanese Mark and Donna Riley Mike, sixteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was pre-deceased by a daughter Tanya Marie Lyons, brothers; Dougie and Ronney Lyons, and a sister Penny Lyons. Abiding by Mr. Lyons' wishes, there will be no memorial services. He will be cremated and laid to rest with his daughter Tanya in Mayfield Cemetery at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main St. Broadalbin In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd., Albany, N.Y. 12205. The family extends a warm thank you to Drs. Mayer & Cope, the nurses and staff at St. Mary's Hospital for the great care that was given to Glenn and to Mountain Valley Hospice.
