Angel "Tonin" A. Cabrera

Angel "Tonin" A. Cabrera, Sr. 50, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Angel was born June 12, 1962, to Miguel Cabrera and Maria Hernandez in Naranjito, Puerto Rico. On Sept., 7, 1985 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, Nilsa Cabrera. Angel enjoyed life and spending time with family. Some of his hobbies include; Fishing, pool, working on cars, taking pictures, and watching wrestling and boxing on television, and he loved to cook. He was also an avid baseball fan with the Yankees being his favorite team. Angel was a great husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He always put his family first and they were his pride and joy. Angel spent from 1983 to 1989 working for Coleco Industries, Amsterdam and Sofco which became SQP; he worked at Sofco for 20 years. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Angel, also known as "Tonin" is survived by his loving wife; Nilsa I. Quinones Cabrera, mother; Maria Cabrera, sons; Angel A. Cabrera, Jr.Tatiana of Hawaii, and Miguel Cabrera of Amsterdam, daughter; Christina Cabrera Michael Compoverde, of Amsterdam, brothers; Miguel, Carlos, Wilson, William, Jesus, and Isreal Cabrera, a sister; Theresa Cabrera, grandchildren; Jaianalise, Jovan, and Antonio, in-laws; Blanca and Miguel Quinones and special friend and care-giver; Hilda Quill. He was predeceased by his father; Miguel Cabrera. The family invited relatives and friends to attend a calling period from 4-7 P.M. on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, N.Y., 12010. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 11:15 A.M. with Fr. Lawrence Decker presiding over all services.
