Mrs. Ruth M. Yorks, age 64, of Johnstown, died Friday, January 25, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 16, 1948 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Harvey and Violet Marlitt Frye. She lived most of her life in the Mayfield area. Ruth was employed by Hawkins Fabrics in Gloversville for 30 years until her retirement in 2007. She loved the New York Yankees was proud of her butterfly collection. She was married on September 2, 1967 to Paul L. Yorks who died January 31, 2009. Survivors include: a daughter, Barbie Lockwood Bob of Johnstown; three siblings: Linda Paul Butch Goodwin, Harvey "Mike" Frye and Tammy Kennedy; two grandchildren: Rob Lockwood and Jimmy Lockwood; several nieces, nephews and her pet cat, Smokey. A memorial celebration of Ruth's life will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2nd at the Sammonsville Volunteer Fire Dept. where a reception will follow. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Diabetes Association, 2 Pinewest Plaza, Suite 204, Albany, NY 12205 or the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd; Loudonville, NY 12211 or the Regional Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 1274, Gloversville, NY 12078 Arrangements have been entrusted to Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
