John E. Reddy

Mr. John E. "Jack" Reddy, 82, of Peck Lake, Gloversville, New York died peacefully on Monday, September 11, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, NY. Born on January 4, 1935 in Huntington, Long Island, he was the son of the late William and Emma Reddy. He was married to Judy Norton in 1954. In 1963, he remarried Patricia (Money) Nichols. Jack was a lifelong New Yorker and a very hard worker since the age of nine. He was employed as a plumber, and then an airplane mechanic for Republic Airlines prior to his long career as a commercial roofing foreman. He was a lifetime member of the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers, Local No. 154. Jack was an avid boater, and served as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Jack volunteered for several years at the Salvation Army in Gloversville, NY, serving meals to those in need. Jack was a passionate reader, war history buff, and had an extremely deep love for his family, friends and beloved dogs over the years. Following his retirement in 1995, Jack and his wife, Patricia, moved to Upstate NY from Miller Place, NY. They resided in Fort Plain for several years before moving to Peck Lake in 2001. In 2003, Jack was predeceased by Patricia Davis Reddy, his dear wife of 40 years. Survivors include his children, Deborah Mulligan-Timer (Nichols, Reddy, Winkler, Naple) and her husband Ronald Timer of Peck Lake, NY, Charles Nichols and his wife Katherine of Wimauma, FL, and Marianne (Reddy) Davino of Flushing, NY; 10 grandchildren (Heather, Lisa, Christian, Timothy, Rebecca, Andrew, Zachary, Rachel, Margaret, and Matthew); 11 great grandchildren; and one niece. A gathering for family and friends will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 4 until 7pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Funeral services for Jack will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10am at the Johnstown Reformed Church, 351 N. Perry Street, Johnstown, NY 12095, officiated by the Rev. Brian Dykema.
