Arthur J. "Jim" Rice, 78, of Gloversville, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at his home. He was born November 14, 1934 in Gloversville, NY to the late Arthur Rice and Elizabeth Fraiser Rice. Jim was a 1953 graduate of Gloversville High School and a 9 year veteran of the National Guard, serving from 1954 to 1963. He was a retired Teamster and a member of the Concordia Club, Bleecker Fish and Game Club, Mayfield Servicemen's Club, the NY American Legion and the NRA. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Rice; two sons: Arthur "AJ" and Eric; a daughter, Kristen; 4 grandchildren: Patrick, Keegan, Ava, and Lily. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 20 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lexington Foundation for Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts, 465 N. Perry St; Johnstown, NY 12095.
