Joseph L Aldi

Joseph L. Aldi Sr., 80, of Hickory Ridge Road, Amsterdam, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at St Mary's Hospital. Joseph was born March, 19, 1932, in Amsterdam, NY. He was a lifelong resident, although the family did spend 15 years living in Waterbury, Connecticut. Joseph was united in marriage to his loving wife of 58 years on November 14, 1954. The couple was married at the former St. Josephs Church. Joseph had a love and passion for many things, but above all his compassion and love for his family and friends exceeded all. He was a craftsman in carpentry and loved working on his crafts and his home. He was an avid hunter and loved to be in the outdoors. Joseph enjoyed watching the New York Yankees. Joseph spent many years working for the General Electric Company in the Gas Turbine Engineering, and was a Wiring Foreman. Joseph worked hard all his life even into his last years. Joseph attended Mt. Carmel Church. Survivors include; his wife; Patricia Aldi, son; Joseph Aldi, Jr., daughters; Kathleen Aldi and Bonnie Douglas Lampkin. He is also survived by his two grandchildren; Joesph Aldi III, and Alicia Lampkin; sisters; LouisaGeorge LaVallee, and Rose Stuczko, brother; Peter Aldi. Joseph was pre-deceased by several siblings and his parents. Services for Joseph will remain private to immediate family only. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be given to Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Mannys Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY, 12010.
