Mr. Gary D. Litchfield, 60, of Edson St., passed away Sunday morning April 29, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam, NY on June 7, 1951 a son of the late Ralph and Doris Miller Litchfield. He was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and attended Amsterdam schools. Gary worked for the Noteworthy Company in Amsterdam for over 17 years. He last was employed by BCD Tires in Hagaman, NY. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith. Mr. Litchfield enjoyed fishing, NASCAR racing and watching his favorite driver Jimmy Johnson. He also loved being outdoors and spending time with his grandson. He is survived by his beloved daughter Meagan Litchfield of Amsterdam. His brothers, Ralph, David and Richard Litchfield. His sisters, Joan Squires, Gayle Dematteo and Elizabeth Leonard. His beloved grandson Garrett Podolec whom he cherished and lived for. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Gary was predeceased by a sister Rebecca "Becky" Litchfield and a brother Robert Litchfield. Thanks to Ron and Frank for the great care given to Gary during his illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 4, 2012 at 2:00P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 12:00 to 2:00P.M. at the funeral home. Private Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY 121010.
