Mary Kretiv
November 3rd, 1915 - April 20th, 2012
Mary Kretiv, age 96, passed away Friday, April 20 at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home after a long illness. She was born November 3, 1915 in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Harry and Stephania Tarnoska Syrotiuk. She moved to Broadalbin as an infant. Mary was united in marriage to Stephen Kretiv. They enjoyed many happy years together until his passing in 1990. She was employed as a factory worker for Mohasco Carpet Factory. Later on, along with her husband, Mary owned and operated Eskays T.V. Repair in Broadalbin. She was of the Catholic Faith and was a member of both St. Joseph's Church in Broadalbin and the Catholic Daughters. Mary was an avid bowler and also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She will be sadly missed. Survivors include a daughter, Diana Konieczny of Broadalbin; three grandchildren: Mary Lou Konieczny of Broadalbin, Kathleen Healy Tom of Pound Ridge, NY and Eileen Trahan Charles of Rochester; five great grandchildren: Derek and Kurtis Callen of Gloversville, Emily and Julia Healy of Pound Ridge and Alyssa Trahan of Rochester and a sister, Anne Clayburn of Palatine Bridge. Family and friends are invited and may call Monday, April 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 West Main Street, Broadalbin, NY 12025. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Linda Martin officiating. Interment will take place at St. Basil's Ukranian Cemetery, Union Mills Road, Broadalbin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's memory to Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, 99 East State Street, Gloversville, NY 12078.
