Rita Tessitore

Rita Fontana Tessitore, 86, of Midline Road, passed away peacefully Monday evening at St. Mary's Hospital with her loving family at her side. Born in Amsterdam on January 10, 1926, the only child of the late Frank and Angela Brussone Fontana, she was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School and the Amsterdam School of Commerce. She briefly worked for the General Electric Company, leaving to raise her family. In 1962 she began a career with Amsterdam Printing and retired in 1988 as office manager. Rita loved cooking and baking, reading and cross word puzzles. She also enjoyed shopping and travelling, but was most happy just being with her family. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Broadalbin. On May 10, 1947 she was united in marriage to Joseph Tessitore. He predeceased her on August 11, 1988. She also lost her grandson Patrick Tyler in 2006. She leaves her children; Linda Toby Tyler of Amsterdam, Robert Linda Tessitore of Boerne, Texas, Joe Donna Tessitore of Saratoga Springs, Carol Dan Thompson of Amsterdam; grandchildren; Christopher Michelle & Sean Martha Tyler, Joshua Vicky and Justin Pond, Bryan Tanya Tessitore, Joanna Austin Englemann, Heather Anthony Musto, Ian Amy and Aaron Thompson; fourteen great grandchildren and nieces, nephews and cousins. The Mass Of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Church, 7 North Street Broadalbin. Fr. Neil Draves Arpaia, celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited and may call today Wed. from 4-7 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Interment is in St. Michael's Cemetery.
