Doris Fernandez

Doris Faulknor Fernandez, 88, of Gloversville, passed away Monday, October 31, 2011. She was born April 27, 1923 in Amsterdam, the daughter of the late Leslie and Nellie Olmstead Faulknor. Doris graduated from Fultonville High School and Nathan Littauer School of Nursing. She worked in several fields of nursing, including psychiatry, Public Health nursing and School nursing. She was a member of Nathan Littauer Nurses Alumni, Nathan Littauer Auxiliary, Fulton County Children's Committee, Ida McGinnis Senior Center and the Fulton County Historical Society. Doris enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crafts. She was an avid reader as well. She enjoyed spending winters in Vero Beach, FL with her late husband. Most of all, Doris loved being with her family- especially during the holidays. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. John Fernandez; her brother Robert Faulknor; her twin brother Dormer Faulknor and a nephew. Survivors include two sons: Dr. David Seelow of Latham and Daniel Seelow Lisa of Amsterdam; two grandsons: Jon Seelow JoAn of Amsterdam and Kyle Chamberlain of Amsterdam; four stepchildren: John Fernandez Donna of Michigan, Charlie Fernandez Marilyn of Oregon, Dr. Richard Fernandez Faith of New Jersey and Sereta Fernandez of Caroga Lake; four step grandchildren: Jessica Fernandez of California, Jonathan Fernandez of North Carolina, Alexis Fernandez of New Jersey and Claire McMullen Todd and great grandson Richard McMullen of New Jersey. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited and may call Saturday, November 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY 12078 where a funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Interment will take place at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doris' memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave, Gloversville, NY 12078 or a charity of one's choosing.
