Leonard P. Martorelli

Leonard P. Martorelli, 88, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully Monday, August 12, 2011 with his loving family by his side. He was born April 17, 1923 in Gloversville, the son of the late Guy and Frances Puorto Martorelli. Leonard was a graduate of Gloversville High School and also attended Alfred University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during WWII. On September 25, 1949, he married his sweetheart, Jane Raso, who survives. Together they shared just short of sixty two wonderful years together. Leonard was employed as an insurance agent for State Farm Insurance in Gloversville for thirty three years before his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed his job immensely and had a very special relationship with all of his many clients over the years. He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Gloversville. He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans and former member of the Lion's Club. Leonard was full of fun, always joking and teasing and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a loving, understanding and kind hearted man. An excellent husband and father, he has set a very fine example to his son on how to live life and how to treat others. He will be very sadly missed by many. In addition to his beloved wife, Jane Martorelli of Gloversville, survivors include a son, Guy Martorelli of Gloversville; a sister, Joan Cangiano Vincent of Gloversville and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Norma D'Onofrio. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, August 16 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, South Main Street, Gloversville. Interment will take place at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Johnstown with military honors.Arrangements have been entrusted to Kobuskie-Koink Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Sreet, Gloversville, NY.
