Mr. William J. Hanna, 68 years old, of Vrooman Avenue, passed away Sunday at St. Mary's Hospital. Mr. Hanna was born July 7, 1943 in Amsterdam, the son of William and Janet DeGolyer Hanna and was a life long resident of Amsterdam. He was a graduate of Amsterdam High School and of S.U.N.Y. Oswego. Mr. Hanna served his country with the National Guard. After college he accepted a position with Mohasco Industries. He owned and operated the former Chick-A-Rama. Mr. Hanna finished his work career as rental manager with Alpin Haus. He loved to travel with family and friends, especially Ellen and Tony. Mr. Hanna married the former Audrey Beaudin on May 30, 1987 who survives. Also surviving are his son: William James Jami Hanna of Cranford, New Jersey, his daughter: Elizabeth Ann Chris Kaniecki of St. Cloud, Florida, a stepson: Richard Hartig of Amsterdam, a stepdaughter: Tami Joseph Gugliemelli of Amsterdam, His sisters: Kathy Gomula and Janet Falato, both of Amsterdam, his uncle Vic DeGolyer of Gloversville, five grandchildren: Ian, Sarah and Sean Hanna; Catherine and Charles William Kaniecki, nieces, nephews and cousins. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. There will be no prior calling period. Burial will be in the Broadalbin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made: Dr. Sheridan's Avon Breast Cancer Association or to the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps, c/o the funeral home.
