James H. Ackerman
February 11th, 1937 - June 11th, 2017
James H. Ackerman, 80, of Delmar, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 11, 1937 in Amsterdam, a son of the late Charles K. and Mary Jane MacDougall Ackerman. Jim is a graduate from Wilbur H. Lynch High School, as well as Russel Sage College where he earned his Bachelor's Degree. Jim went on to work for over 40 years in Albany at the Veterans Administration Hospital in x.ray and then as a Medical Social Worker. Survivors include his wife, Carol Stewart Ackerman, whom he wed on November 4, 1967; his daughter, Holly Ackerman; 3 brothers, Chuck, Leonard and George and his sister, Mary Jane. Besides his parents, Jim is predeceased by 1 sister and 2 brothers. The family wishes to invite family and friends to a memorial service for Jim at the Delmar Reformed Church, 386 Delaware Ave. Delmar, 12054 on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 10 am. A private burial for Jim will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Albany Community Hospice and Heaven's Lil' Angels for the care of Jim. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jims' name can be made to the Delmar Reformed Church or to the Northeastern Association of the Blind of Albany, 301 Washington Ave. Albany, 12206.
