Dominic Insognia
December 28th, 1919 - March 7th, 2011
Mr. Dominic "Duck" Insognia of Gloversville passed away Monday at Nathan Littauer Hospital Extended Care Facility. Born December 28, 1919 in Gloversville, he was the son of the late Guiseppe and Adeline Di Maio Insognia. He was educated in Gloversville schools and employed as a cook at Tryon facility the last seventeen years. Mr. Insognia was an Army veteran of WWII serving in the European Theatre under General George Patton. Mr. Insognia received the Purple Heart for injuries received during battle. An avid outdoorsman, Dominic enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest love was family. He always put others before himself, especially his children and grandchildren. He was married October 4, 1952 to Mary Slovack Insognia who pre-deceased him in 1998. Survivors include his children: Carl Linda Insognia and Frank Insognia of Gloversville and his adopted son George Lydecker of Bleecker. He is also survived by a brother, Virgil Insonia of Gloversville, his grandchildren; Christopher Van Auken and Mary Insognia as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dominic was pre-deceased by two sisters; Rita Hayes and Viola Meyers and his brothers; Guiseppe Joe Insogna Sr., Queedie Insognia, Orlando Spike Insonia, Rinardo Insognia and Patrick Insognia. Funeral Services and Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Extened Care Facility of Nathan Littauer Hospital, 99 E. State St. Gloversville N.Y. 12078. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville.
