Kathleen "Kay" Miller
March 23rd, 1936 - October 29th, 2010
Kathleen "Kay" Miller, age 74, of Johnstown passed away on Friday October 29, 2010 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 23, 1936 the daughter of the late John and Helen Rietforts Blanke. On June 17, 1956, Kay married Esley C. Miller. They have shared 54 years united in marriage. Kay was a member of the Johnstown Moose, CSEA, as well as a former member of the Concordia Singing Society. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Kay enjoyed cooking, playing card games, golfing, dancing and traveling with her husband Esley. She had a love for learning, as well as reading many novels. She loved to watch the wildlife at her home and on Animal Planet. Kay always enjoyed "Old Fashioned" company and would always open up her home to friends and family. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 54 years: Esley C. Miller of Johnstown, NY, a son, Norman Miller Sharon of Stafford, VA, a daughter Dr. Karen H. Miller of Johnstown, NY, four grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie Kay, Kaylee, Ashlee, as well as 2 great grandsons and 3 great granddaughters. Additional survivors include, a brother and sister in law, Curtis and Kathy Miller and three nephews Tim, Mark and Clark. Friends and relatives are invited and may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday October 30, 2010 at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday November 1, 2010 at the funeral home with the Rev. Michele Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Kay to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
