August 25th, 1943 - July 20th, 2010
Mrs. Sandra J. Marshall, age 66, of Broadalbin, died Tuesday evening, July 20, 2010 at Albany Medical Center following a short illness. She was born August 25, 1943 in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Arthur Paull and Matilda VanValkenburg Paull. She was a 1961 graduate of Mohanason High School and shortly thereafter was employed at the NYS Dept. of Motor Vehicles in Albany. She later worker at the drafting department at General Electric Company in Schenectady, and finally at the admissions office at Union College in Schenectady for about 17 years. Sandy loved life, especially watching the sunrise and sunset on the Great Sacandaga Lake. As a lifelong member of the Sacandaga Boat Club she enjoyed kayaking with her good friends and grandchildren. She also enjoyed sitting on her front porch and listening to the rain fall. She was a member of the Sew Busy Quilt Guild and loved going away for the quilting weekends with close friends. Sandy had a great love of horses and spent a great many years riding with her husband and friends. Known as "Meema" by many, she appreciated the simple things with friends and family. Her life's love was her cherished family. She will be sincerely missed by all who knew her. Sandy is survived by: her husband, Ronald S. Marshall of Broadalbin; two children, Ronald P. Marshall Jeanine and Melinda M. Fitzgerald Edward of Mayfield; a brother, Joseph "Fritz" Paull Mary of Rotterdam; two sisters, Shirley Ambesi Anthony of Rotterdam and Marion Goodness of Glenville; four grandchildren, Danielle Rafferty, Jordan Marshall, Julia Fitzgerald and Meara Fitzgerald; a great-grandson, Ethan Rafferty; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive relatives and friends from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main St; Broadalbin, where a funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Bill Delia officiating. Cremation will follow at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Ronald McDonald House of Albany, 139 South Lake Avenue, Albany, NY 12208.
