Broadalbin, NY - Edmund Patrick O'Brien, 70, of Mill Street, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 12, 2017, morning at his home. Born November 13, 1946 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Edmund Patrick and Mildred L. Murray O'Brien. He was raised in Pennsylvania and he was a graduate of the Lake- Lehman High School in Lehman, PA. Ed lived most of his life in Amsterdam. He was employed by General Electric Company in Schenectady for 30 years until retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of General Electric and the Harvest Church in Clifton Park. Ed loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and golfing. He was predeceased by his wife, Diane Alexander O'Brien; two sons Michael O'Brien and infant son Edmund Patrick O'Brien III and a sister, Jane Garbush. Survivors include his loving family, five daughters, Renea (Orlando) Pacheco of Amsterdam, Patricia (Richard) Payne of Broadalbin, Maureen O'Brien of Pattersonville, Mary O'Brien of Broadalbin and Megan Neilson of Perth; daughter-in-law, Kayla O'Brien of Perth; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be a private" Celebration of Life" for Ed held at a later date. There will be no public services or calling hours at Ed's request. Condolences may be left on line at www.brbsfuneral.com. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, Amsterdam, NY.
